We highly recommend Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Tyler, Texas in October for their Halloween weekends. The staff goes out of their way to make it a memorable weekend!
Ways to Stay
The well-appointed cabins offer beautiful views of the woods, the fishing pond, the playground, or combinations of all three. They also have picnic tables, fire pits, and charcoal grills for barbecuing. All cabins also include a television with built in DVD player. Local TV stations only. Cabins range in size, how many they will accommodate, and pricing.
We personally stayed in a double cabin and there was more than enough room for our family of four. Loved the full kitchen, porch, and fire pit.
All of the spacious camping sites offer serene wooded views with easy access to all resort amenities.
Being an RV family ourselves, I loved how roomy the sites are and the ones with covered picnic tables!
Magic Pumpkin Patch
This was the cutest activity! Each child was given magic seeds and a poem. We then boarded a hayride to a magic pumpkin patch. Once there the littles were instructed to grab a handful of magic sand and to go find a special spot. We then planted the magic seeds in the magic sand. After we read the magic poem nice and loud we placed the foam pumpkins on top completing the steps. It was time to jump back on the hayride for another trip. When we made our way back to the patch all the kids squealed excitedly to see their seeds grew into pumpkins.
We took our pumpkins back to paint and decorate. It was so much fun. Even all the adults were into it, seeing all the children's joy. The staff was so great with their festive energy! Making the experience.
Amenities to enjoy through out the day
In between events we spent a lot of time on the jumping pillow and playground making friends. It's covered with shaded seating for the parents to relax while supervising.
The pools and splash pad were closed for season, but with all the amenities and events on the schedule no one missed them!
The park has regular that remain on the schedule regularly. For a small fee you can get a weekend pass to do them all at a discounted price.
- Gem mining
- Laser Tag
- Mini Gold
- Tie Dye
Trunk or Treat
The park has a designated area for golf carts and vehicles to set up for trunk or treat. They provided cotton candy and popcorn. Yogi bear also made an appearance for pictures with everyone in costume. It was a blast and I think the highlight of the weekend.
How to Add to the Festivities
Here are a few ideas how to make the weekend even more memorable.
- Decorate your cabin, RV site, and golf cart (available to rent).
- Bake spooky treats together.
- Do spooky crafts.
- Enjoy s'mores around the fire.
